Geoff's Review
The Len Lye Centre Cinema, a smart new cinema, is an integral part of the stunning Len Lye Centre/Govett-Brewster Art Gallery. It screens a curated programme of older films (Dirty Harry and Age of Innocence in February 2016), with Director Simon Rees taking a leading role in film choices. It screens films weekly on Thursday (early evening, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. There are also daily free screenings of the innovative films of Len Lye, such as 'Flip & Two Twisters'.

The Govett-Brewster has also forged links with Martin Scorcese's World Cinema Foundation, which will lead to some exciting ventures.
The Len Lye Centre Cinema will provide a boost to film culture in Taranaki, which had diminished with the demise of the Art House cinema in Devon Street.
The 4th Stage Theatre in New Plymouth (11 Baring Terrace, adjacent to Strandon Beach) also hosts visiting programmes of short films.
