Geoff's Review
The Geraldine Cinema (est. 1924) adds a special character to this attractive South Canterbury farming town, which is increasingly on tourist routes (check out the World's Largest Jersey at the local knitwear shop, and the renowned Barkers of Geraldine, for all kinds of juices and chutneys).
The cinema was previously sustained by the commitment of owners Calvin and Deirdre McKechnie until November 2014, when ownership shifted to Pat Walsh.

The Geraldine Cinema has recently faced the same dilemma which other single-screen, 35mm projection cinemas have faced, as the inevitable shift to digital and the supply of 35mm prints dwindling. A digital upgrade was completed in 2015.

The Grealdine Cinema aims to cater to a range of audiences, with a mix of mainstream and art house films. Cinema is closed Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday, with 2-3 screenings daily on Thursday to Sunday.
Good ticket prices and good street/off-street parking.
