Geoff's Review
This cinema is part of a new community development in the Far North town of Kaitaia, as part of a complex which will house the museum, library. iSite and local drama/arts groups. Such a central facility is much needed in town, which has suffered more than its fair share of deprivation. There has been no cinema in town since the Princess Theatre burnt down in 1990 and Te Ahu Cinema, as part of the Little Theatre operation, is now providing 4-5 sessions a day of recent, mainly mainstream releases with reasonable ticket prices.
It was still looking very new and lacking the finishing touches in late 2011 but my hope is that this cinema will be embraced by the local community, who have had to travel to Kaikohe or Kerikeri to see films until now.
