In these weeks before the pesky students return and teaching starts again, I have been working my way through the backlog of material I have accumulated and as at February 21, there are 47 ‘active’ cinema links. There are still a few North Island venues to add and a few more to visit in the Wairarapa/Paraparaumu areas. By the middle of 2012, I plan to visit or re-visit as many South Island places as I can, even though I am returning to Christchurch with some trepidation as so few cinemas remain there.
Hope this site is proving to be interesting to those who stray across it. I will publicise it more widely once I have most of the content completed.
I still intend to add all one-off film events I come across–went to a great outdoor screening last night of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (Howard Hawkes, 1953) in the Hamilton Gardens, as part of the 2012 Hamilton Gardens Festival. I would appreciate hearing about any other summer film events.
